Bangladesh Economic Minister in Japan paid a courtesy visit to Yamaguchi University

On Monday, December 20, 2021, Economic Minister of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Japan, Mr. Syed Nasir ERSHAD, paid a courtesy visit to Yamaguchi University (YU).

 

As of December 1, 2021, 16 Bangladeshi students are studying at Yamaguchi University. Most of them are graduate students of the Public Administration Course of the Graduate School of Economics through the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). In addition, three faculty members are working at the university. Bangladesh is one of the countries closely related to Yamaguchi University.

During the courtesy visit, Economic Minister Mr. ERSHAD had a meeting with President OKA Masaaki, Vice President SHINJI Masato (International Cooperation), Advisor to the Vice President TOMIMOTO Ikufumi, and Associate Professor MD. AZIZUL MOQSUD, Graduate School of Sciences and Technology for Innovation. Attendees from YU mentioned him that alumni the Graduate School of Economics have played an active part as high official in Bangladesh, and we have offered halal food and prayer room.

Then, Mr. ERSHAD introduced that 2021 marks the 50th anniversary since independence of Bangladesh and explain about the past cooperation with Japan and the current development situation. In addition, he showed gratitude for the achievements of YU's acceptance of Bangladeshi students, and the President OKA expressed his willingness to accept international students in a wide range of fields in the future.

After that, Mr. ERSHAD moved to the Graduate School of Economics and had a talk with 8 international students from Bangladesh in the Graduate School.

At the round-table talking, after a greeting from the Professor HYODO Takashi, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, international students reported about their current lives at YU. Mr. ERSHAD was pleased to hear that the students were studying hard and he gave advice to them.

At the end of the meeting, the students gave him a soft toy of Yama-Me, YU’s mascot character, in commemoration of his visit.
