On Monday, October 21, 2024, a delegation from Eastern International University (EIU), Vietnam, a partner institution of Yamaguchi University under a university-wide academic exchange agreement, visited the Faculty of Engineering. The delegation was led by Chairman Nguyen Tan Loi and President Go Minh Duc, accompanied by five other members.

The group first paid a courtesy visit to Professor Yoichi Yamada, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. During the visit, they discussed the purpose of their visit and shared insights into the history of exchanges between the two institutions. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Junhwan Song, Director of the International Cooperation Office, and the discussion proceeded in a friendly and cordial atmosphere.

Following the courtesy visit, discussions continued with the Engineering Education Research Center. The Head of the Overseas Dispatch Support Office, Assoc. Prof. Hirotoshi Mori from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Overseas Training Program Officer, Ms. Chisa Yamada, actively participated in discussions focused on collaboration for student training programs at EIU. The EIU delegation shared information about their numerous centers, including the Industry 4.0 Innovation Center. These centers host students from Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and other countries for internships ranging from one to three months, and they emphasized their readiness to provide a wide range of opportunities, from short-term programs to long-term internships.

At the end of the discussion session, four students from Yamaguchi University who had participated in language training programs at EIU joined the meeting. They shared their experiences and impressions of the training and the session maintained a warm and amicable atmosphere throughout.

This visit served as an opportunity for both institutions to deepen their understanding of each other and explore possibilities for further student exchanges. Aligned with the goals outlined in “Yamaguchi University Vision 2030” to cultivate a diverse campus, we are dedicated to continuous discussions to strengthen its partnership with Eastern International University in Vietnam.
