On December 26, 2024, at Yamaguchi University, Professor Subhamoy Bhattacharya, Chair in Geomechanics, at the University of Surrey, UK delivered a special lecture titled Resilience of Offshore Wind Farms under Extreme Loads.  The event was organized under the invitation of Associate Professor Azizul Moqsud from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Professor Bhattacharya, a pioneer in offshore wind turbine research worldwide, discussed the past, present, and future trends in green energy production through wind turbines. He also addressed the challenges in the design of offshore wind turbines, focusing on geotechnical engineering issues and potential solutions to overcome these challenges. Following the lecture, there was an engaging Q&A session wheree students and audiences posed various quesitons to  Professor Bhattacharya, resulting in a lively discussion.
