{"id":854,"date":"2022-02-10T18:06:30","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T09:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ds27i1.cc.yamaguchi-u.ac.jp\/~www-yu\/english\/?page_id=854"},"modified":"2022-02-17T10:45:55","modified_gmt":"2022-02-17T01:45:55","slug":"status_residency","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ds27i1.cc.yamaguchi-u.ac.jp\/~www-yu\/english\/life\/immigration_procedures\/status_residency\/","title":{"rendered":"Changing your Status of Residency"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Changing your Status of Residency<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.isa.go.jp\/en\/index.html\"><span class=\"btn_bg_green sp_w_100\">Application for Change of Status of Residence<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.isa.go.jp\/en\/index.html\"><span class=\"btn_bg_green sp_w_100\">List of Necessary documents<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ti_01\">If you stop undertaking the activities that are stipulated by your status of residence, and plan to continue living in Japan doing other activities, you must change your status of residence. <u>After you successfully change your status of residence, you must report your new status to City Hall within 14 days<\/u><\/p>\n<h3>Changing from &#8220;Family Dependent&#8221; to &#8220;College Student&#8221; Status<\/h3>\n<h4>You will need the following:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ds27i1.cc.yamaguchi-u.ac.jp\/~www-yu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/02\/family_dependent_to_College_student.pdf\"><span class=\"btn_bg_green sp_w_90\">Application form for change of status of residence<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n*Page 4-5 of the application form should be filled out by your faculty or graduate school. *Processing time is about one week.<br \/>\n*Hard copies are available at your faculty or graduate school and the International Student Support Office.<\/li>\n<li>Photo (4cm\u00d73 cm)<br \/>\n*Write your name on the back of the photo and glue it to the application.<br \/>\n*The photo must have been taken within the past 3 months. You may not wear a hat, and the photo should be clear with a plain background.<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of enrollment<br \/>\n (A certificate of acceptance or certificate of planned enrollment may be accepted if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Certificates of scholarships you are receiving (if applicable) or bank account statement<\/li>\n<li>Permit to engage in activity other than that permitted by the status of residence previously granted (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Passport<\/li>\n<li>Residence card<\/li>\n<li>Fee in the form of revenue stamps (available at the post office)<br \/>\n\uffe54,000 (necessary only after application when you successfully change status)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Changing from &#8220;College Student&#8221; to &#8220;Engineer\/Specialist in Humanities\/International Services&#8221; status (for those who find a job before graduation)<\/h3>\n<h4>You will need the following:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ds27i1.cc.yamaguchi-u.ac.jp\/~www-yu\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/02\/college_student_to_engineer_specialist_in_humanities_international_services.pdf\"><span class=\"btn_bg_green sp_w_90\">Application form for change of status of residence<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n*Pages 4-5 should be filled out by your employer.<br \/>\n*Hard copies are available at your faculty or graduate school and the International Student Support Office.)<\/li>\n<li>Photo (4cm\u00d73 cm)<br \/>\n*Write your name on the back of the photo and glue it to the application.<br \/>\n*The photo must have been taken within the past 3 months. If you have already graduated, a diploma or a certificate of graduation<\/li>\n<li>Copies of the company registration and a statement of profit and loss of the recipient organization (provided by your employer)<\/li>\n<li>Document showing official job offer (provided by your employer)\n<li>Passport<\/li>\n<li>Residence card<\/li>\n<li>Fee in the form of revenue stamps (available at the post office)<br \/>\n\\4,000 (necessary only after application when you successfully change status)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Changing from \u201cCollege Student\u201d to \u201cDesignated Activities\u201d status (for those who wish to continue looking for employment after graduation)<\/h3>\n<p class=\"ti_01\">If as a degree student you plan to reside in Japan after graduation to look for employment, you must change your status of residence from &#8220;College Student&#8221; to &#8220;Designated Activities.&#8221; You can apply for this change after getting your diploma post-graduation. If your period of stay as a College Student expires on the same date as your graduation ceremony, completion ceremony, or degree awarding ceremony, you can apply for the change in advance by submitting a certificate of expected graduation or expected completion. It takes about 3 weeks to process after you apply. After changing your status of residence, you can stay for another 6 months. After 6 months, the period of stay can be extended once more, for a total period of up to one year for job-hunting in Japan.<br \/>\n<span class=\"ti_01\">E.g.
