日本学術振興会特別研究員(東北大学)を経て現職。
RESEARCH
専門は社会人類学。特に中国福建省の客家社会を中心に、親族組織、民俗知識、民間建築、文化表象の問題を研究している。2008年からフィールドワークとして福建土楼に約2年間滞在。近年は中国のみならず客家を追って東南アジア、アフリカ、沖縄、オンライン空間も調査している。

KOBAYASHI has been an associate professor at Yamaguchi University since April 2016. He received a Ph.D. in social anthropology from the Graduate School of Humanities, Tokyo Metropolitan University. His research interests include kinship organization, folk knowledge, folk architecture, and cultural representation, with a particular focus on Hakka society in Fujian Province, China. Since 2008, he has conducted fieldwork among the Hakka, including living in Fujian Tulou for approximately two years, and has continued his research intermittently. In recent years, his research has followed Hakka communities not only in China but also in Southeast Asia, Africa, Okinawa, and online spaces.
