IPB大学生2名を受け入れYamaguchi University
Short Stay（YUSS）プログラムを実施しました

　令和8年8月18日から9月11日の期間、インドネシアのIPB大学から学生２名（Oriza AleydaさんとNila Na I Putriさん）を受け入れ、Yamaguchi University Short Stay（YUSS）プログラムを実施しました。

　プログラム前半は、共同獣医学部４年生、韓国や台湾からの留学生とともに6日間にわたる動物感染症総合実習Aを受講しました。バイオセーフティーレベル（BSL）-2およびBSL-3実験室での病原微生物を用いた実践的な実習の他、狂犬病や炭疽発生時の診断方法を学ぶ実践実習、高度感染症実習室（BSL 3対応）・総合病性鑑定研究施設（iPaDL）を用いた実習を行いました。

　プログラム後半は、学部附属動物医療センターの外科外来と内科外来の指導教員のもとで、日本人学生とともに外来診療実習に参加しました。参加した留学生は、個々の症例の主訴と所見に基づいた検査項目の選択によって、治療方針が決定される過程をつぶさに経験し、実際の症例に対する診断と治療の理解をチームで共有しながら、実践的に臨床獣医学を学びました。言葉の壁はありましたが、動物医療センターのスタッフや学生との多くの交流をとおして、最新知識や技術だけでなく、獣医診療にかかわる心構えについても学ぶ機会となりました。

　プログラム終盤には修了式が行われ、加納学部長から一人ひとりに修了証明書が授与されました。学生たちは、約１か月にわたる実習と交流を経て、多くの知識と経験を得て無事プログラムを修了しました。

　本学では、今後もこのような国際交流の機会を通じて、学生のグローバルな視野を育み、海外の大学との連携をさらに深めてまいります。

My days at the Animal Hospital Center were spent observing activities in the surgical and internal medicine departments. It was truly a magnificent experience to observe first and the various tests and approaches that veterinarians use to make a diagnosis. It was tough, especially with the language barrier, but I’ve learned that anything is possible and that it is part of the learning process. Despite the hospital’s tough hours, the veterinarians and students at the animal hospital were always willing to share their findings and did their best to make sure their points came across, which I truly appreciated. The month I spent in both the Animal Hospital and the summer course has taught me that discipline, hard work, and technical skills are not easily achieved but are developed through patient, deliberate training. I’m grateful for the experience and the people who have taught me valuable lessons during the month I spent at Yamaguchi University.

During my time at the Animal Hospital, I observed a variety of surgical and internal medicine cases and learned about different approaches to clinical examination, diagnosis, and treatment. Observing the veterinarians and students in their daily clinical practice gave me insights into veterinary medicine beyond what I had encountered in my studies in Indonesia. Despite the language barrier, I was grateful for the veterinarians' and students' kindness and willingness to share their knowledge and explain the cases to me. My time at Yamaguchi University has provided me with valuable knowledge, new perspectives, and meaningful experiences. I am sincerely grateful to everyone at Yamaguchi University who welcomed me and helped make this internship an enriching and memorable experience.
