  • Research on disease biomarkers using proximal fluids

Introduction to research

In the search for biomarkers for early disease detection and pathological assessment, our research focuses on "proximal fluids" such as saliva and tears, which are located near specific organs and tissues, as an alternative to conventional systemic circulating fluids like blood.

Important characteristics of proximal fluids include their ability to directly reflect the condition of lesions, as well as their minimal invasiveness and ease of sampling, which avoids the pain and stress associated with blood collection. To extract disease-related information from these proximal fluids, our research specifically investigates changes in gene expression and metabolism.
