Call for Paper

Information for Contributors:

The Journal of East Asian Studies is a peer-reviewed journal published annually by the Graduate School of East Asian Studies (GSEAS) of Yamaguchi University, in order to promote research activities focusing on East Asia, to provide a forum to publicly disseminate scholarly works, and to facilitate academic and professional exchange of ideas and research results. Submitters of manuscripts must present a letter of recommendation written by a faculty member of the GSEAS.

The geographic area covered by the Journal is “East Asia” in a broadly-defined sense, i.e., the eastern part of Asia. The journal welcomes manuscripts covering any field.

The journal accepts manuscripts in the following two categories: (i) original articles, (ii) book reviews. The journal also occasionally publishes review articles and research notes. The author of the manuscript needs to indicate to which category their submission belongs, but the final decision of category will be made by the editorial board. The journal considers only manuscripts which represent a clearly defined research theme, clear and appropriate analysis, logical conclusion, and demonstrate original contribution in the chosen field of study. Research notes are overseas survey or fieldwork reports and interim research notes of on-going research. Review articles are articles reviewing past and current research and summarizing general developments and the direction of future research in a specified field.
