Yamaguchi University and Shandong University in China held an online signing ceremony

 

On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, Yamaguchi University (YU) and Shandong University (SDU) in China, one of our international partner university, held an online signing ceremony for the renewal of the international exchange agreement expired in October, and for the purpose to deepen the partnership between the presidents of both universities who were newly appointed this year as well.

From YU, President TANIZAWA Yukio, Dr.GE Qi-Wei (Trustee, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs), Dr. ISHII Yuri (Vice President for International Cooperation), and Associate Professor EN Reiki, Faculty of Economics as an interpreter were participated. From SDU, President Li Shucai and six faculty attended.
At the beginning of the online signing ceremony, we looked back on the deep history of exchanges between the two universities through the short movie created by SDU.
Next to that, YU President TANIZAWA made opening remarks, congratulating SDU President Li, who was appointed as president in June. He also mentioned that SDU was the first institution for YU to conclude an international exchange agreement: the history of international exchange of YU was also the history of relationship with SDU.
In response, SDU President Li commented that we had the long-term researcher and student exchanges, more than 150 exchange students and researchers, more than 50 visits between the two countries since we concluded the international exchange agreement in 1983. He expressed his expectations for the future development of exchanges.
After that, the international exchange agreement was successfully renewed signing by Presidents and Vice Presidents of both universities.

Through the online signing ceremony, it was confirmed that we both were eager resume face-to-face exchanges on research, student, and faculty and staff after the end of COVID-19 pandemic.
Activities will continue steadily under the renewed international exchange agreement, and the relationship between the two universities will be further strengthened.
