Ms. Ikeda, International Education Coordinator from University of Hawai‘i Kaua’i Community College visited Yamaguchi University

 

On Monday, May 15, 2023, Ms. Kyoko Ikeda, International Education Coordinator from University of Hawai‘i Kaua’i Community College (KCC), one of Yamaguchi University’s international exchange partner universities, visited Yamaguchi University (YU). Ms. Ikeda paid a courtesy visit to Prof. TOMIMOTO Ikufumi (Senior Advisor of Vice President for International Cooperation), held a KCC information session for YU students, met with faculty and students of the Faculty of Global and Science Studies (FGSS) and went to the exchange student dormitory:YU International Share House.

At the courtesy visit, Prof. TOMIMOTO introduced YU and explained YU’s activities for the SDGs achievement. In response, Ms. Ikeda talked that Yamaguchi Prefecture is a safe place to spent study-abroad life for exchange students. She also expressed us her appreciation that KCC exchange students have a fruitful time in YU.

In the KCC information session for YU students, there were 35 student attendees, mainly from the FGSS, and 7 faculty and staff member attendees. At the session, Ms. Ikeda shared photos of Kaua’i’s beaches and nature, and introduced how KCC conducts classes that make use of Kaua’i’s nature.

At the meeting with faculty and students from the FGSS, Ms. Ikeda politely answered questions for YU students who plan to study at KCC as exchange students. She also explained the KCC has been accepting YU students cooperating with Kaua’i Yamaguchi Kenjinkai as host families.

Finally, we went to the YU International Share House. Ms. Ikeda met with KCC student currently studying abroad at YU. The student talked about his study-abroad experience so far in Yamaguchi’s rich natural environment and he is participating in club activities and interacting with YU students. The meeting was held in a peaceful atmosphere from beginning to end.

YU will continue to place importance on cooperation with international exchange partner universities and promote active student and researcher exchanges with detailed support.
