The 8th Yamaguchi University Faculty of Engineering Homecoming Day

(Posted on November 17, 2025)

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the 8th Yamaguchi University Faculty of Engineering Homecoming Day was held at the Tokiwa Campus. The event coincided with the annual Tokiwa Festival. The Homecoming Day is held every year to provide alumni, current students, their families, and members of the local community with an opportunity to learn more about the Faculty of Engineering and to foster interaction and friendship. This year’s event also attracted many visitors and concluded successfully with great enthusiasm.

The day began with an opening ceremony, followed by a special lecture session featuring Professor Masaharu Nakayama from the Department of Applied Chemistry, and Associate Professor Hiroyuki Usui from the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, Faculty of Engineering, Tottori University. The lectures delved deeply into cutting-edge research on “Zinc-Manganese Batteries” and “Next-Generation Rechargeable Batteries.” Many participants commented that it was “a very interesting topic and a valuable opportunity to think about future technologies.”

In the afternoon, visitors enjoyed various programs such as a Campus Tour guided by faculty members and the Yamami Meet & Greet Session. In addition, the Faculty of Engineering cafeteria offered a special Yamami Lunch Box, while FAVO BAKERY distributed free bread—allowing visitors to fully enjoy the flavors of autumn.

The annual Student Research Poster Exhibition showcased the daily research achievements of current engineering students. From 12 P.M. to 4 P.M., students presented and explained their work directly to visitors. Many attendees were impressed by the high level of research and commented that they were “moved by the students’ passion” and “inspired by the opportunity to interact with the next generation of engineers.”

This year’s Homecoming Day served as a valuable occasion for many people to learn more about the Faculty’s education, research, and connections with the local community. Encouraged by the warm support of all participants, Yamaguchi University will continue striving to be a university that contributes to both the region and the world.

We look forward to welcoming you again with even more exciting programs at next year’s Homecoming Day!
