The 2nd International Workshop on Female Researchers Working on Membranes and Nanomaterials – Innovations and Beyond was held.
(Posted on January 27, 2026)
On December 15, 2025, we held an online international workshop in collaboration with the European Chemical Engineering Group, focusing on fields related to membrane separation engineering and nanomaterials. Over 40 participants joined, including students and faculty from our university, as well as attendees from Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Japan, and other countries.
Prior to the workshop, we conducted a survey on gender equality. On the day of the event, we presented highlights of the survey results, followed by an exchange of opinions among participants. Subsequently, nine oral presentations were given by participants from Japan and Europe: two master’s students (one from our university), two doctoral students, three early-career researchers within three years of obtaining their doctorate (affiliated with companies or universities), and two university faculty members and university-spinoff venture CEOs. These presentations sparked lively discussions. Additionally, a call for one-minute research introduction videos was made to students and young researchers, receiving 12 submissions. Workshop participants voted to select the Outstanding Research Award and the Video Award winners. From our university, Kazuma Shintani, a second-year Master’s student in the Department of Construction and Environmental Engineering, Graduate School of Science and Technology for Innovation, received the 3rd place Outstanding Research Award for his presentation titled “FAU Zeolite Membrane Development for Selective Methanol Permeation in Transesterification.”
Our university will continue to strive for the revitalization of education and research, and the development of globally competitive talent.
