Our Lab

Our laboratory was established in April, 2018. Development biology is a study how the body is organized precisely. Mammals have unique sizes, but how are they determined? For example, there are species comprising various sizes and in the same species, such as the Great Dane and Chihuahua in dogs, but by what mechanism is body size determined? Elucidation of the size control mechanism of mammals is an important issue in understanding the basics of mammalian formation, and is an important issue in the field of applied biology such as medical and veterinary research, and diseases and genetic diseases. The obtained findings can also be applied for improvements of livestock and companion animals. Elucidation of the size control mechanism in mammals has the potential to offer scientific contributions to a wide range of fields.

Research Interests

We focus on body size and cell size control mechanism and its application in mammals.

  • Study on polyploidy cells in mammals
  • Study on characteristics of cultured hepatocyte
  • Body size control mechanism of African dwarf mouse (Mus minutoides)
  • Body size control mechanism of various mutant or transgenic mice
